Environmental

Our business has an environmental ethos and a policy to re-use and re-cycle the waste we manage for our customers.

There is currently an additional cost for us to follow this environmental policy, where other waste disposal methods would be more commercially economic, however less environmental and in our opinion unsustainable.

  Re-cycle and re-use policy

Where ever possible we strive to run the business and service our customers with an environmental awareness and focus.
As a result all of the waste collected from our customers is re-used or re-cycled, none of it is land filled.

  Used cooking oil collection

Across the Midlands we offer a used cooking oil collection and removal from customer’s site. The used cooking oil is processed to produce an environmentally friendly, carbon neutral bio-fuel.

  Grease trap waste

The waste we collected from our customers grease removal systems is included in a rendering process which separates the fats, oils and grease from the solid mass. This produces both a liquid solution and a residual solid material which is dried and both these re-cycled products are burned (bio-mass) to generate “green” electricity which is fed into the national grid.

  Vision

It is our vision to grow the business to a point where we can invest in the capital equipment to own and control this re-cycling and energy production process.

  The Facts

Much has been documented and continues to be debated on the various renewable sources of electricity.  These take many forms including - marine sources – tidal barrages, tidal streams and waves – wind both on-shore and off-shore, biomass – combustible waste, land fill gas and energy crops – hydro and solar.

To meet Kyoto commitments and to safeguard a level of diversity of electricity supply, the UK Government has a target of 10% of electrical energy to be generated by renewable sources in 2010.

The biggest growth in contribution to this target is predicted to be from wind and biofuels, in the latter especially from energy from waste. The EC Landfill Directive has and will continue to enforce major changes in landfill practices. As a direct result the development of a diverse range of energy from waste schemes is implicit.

Ironically the achievement of this 10% government target is under threat in part because of growing environmental pressure. Additional the pace of build necessary for small biomass fuelled plants and wind turbine together with associated electricity grid connections impose practical limitations on the production capacity which may be in place by 2010.

Regardless of these factors the 10% target provides a compelling opportunity for businesses in the waste management sector in this immature industry.
